Jane Shea Monsport, 86, died after a short illness at home Sunday, May 6th in the company of her loving sons, and dear friends. Born in South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Richard O'Brien Shea of Bridgeport, CT. Jane was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport, and the Maryland College for Women in Lutherville, MD.
In her life, she called South Carolina, the Panama Canal Zone, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Jersey, home. She married her sweetheart, Lt. Eugene J Monsport USN in January 1944 and lived as a Navy wife in Virginia, Florida, and California. A homemaker, she lived in Meriden, CT from 1950 to 1964, and Parsippany, NJ from 1964 until her death. She was the president of Air Tool Specialists Inc of Tabor, NJ from 1973 to 2004. An avid reader, Jane was a founding member of the Friends of the Parsippany Library.
Gene, her devoted husband of 58 years passed away in 2002. She was also predeceased by her brother, Richard O'Brien Shea, Jr. DDS, of Pensacola, FL. Jane is survived by three sons, Weldon Shea Monsport, and Michael E. Monsport, both of Morris Plains, NJ; John Monsport and his wife Dawn of Lawrenceville, NJ; and four grandchildren, Michael Monsport, Jr of Hampton Twp., NJ; Hannah Mae Monsport of Sanford, NC; and Thomas Monsport and Justin Monsport of Lawrenceville, NJ.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial at St. Christophers Church in Parsippany, 11:00 am Saturday, June 30th, In lieu of flowers, her family encourages a donation to the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey, 38 Elm St, Morristown, NJ 07960-4110.
